1er janvier January 1st
On fête le nouvel an avec un bon steak de kangourou sur le BBQ. We celebrate the new year with a delicious kangaroo steak on the BBQ.
2 Janvier Nous sommes maintenant rendus chez nos amis Robyn et Johann pour le reste de la semaine. January 2 We are now at our friends Robyn and Johann's house for the rest of the week.
Premier diner avec Robyn. Nous renouons après 15 ans sans s'être vus. On avait gardé le contact par internet toutefois. Au menu:  saumon fumé et jambon sur pain frais maison, salade verte. First lunch with Robyn.  We have not seen each other for 15 years, though we had kept in touch over the internet . On the menu:  smoked salmon and ham on fresh home bread, green salad.
	Laissez-moi vous présenter Worzel.  Nous allions le promener tous les matins sans laisse et il nous écoutait au doigt et à l'oeil même s'il nous connaissais juste depuis 24 heures ! Let me introduce you to Worzel.  We walked him every morning, without a leash and he was obeying promptly even if he knew us since only 24 hours !
C'est l'heure de l'apéro dans le superbe solarium de nos amis. It's "apero" time in our friend's lovely sun lounge.
Au menu ce soir:  carré d'agneau et poulet sur le BBQ, salade verte. On the menu tonight:  rack of lamb and chicken on the BBQ, green salad.
3 janvier Journée à Fremantle January 3 A day in Fremantle
Aux Fremantle Markets nous avons acheté plein de petits souvenirs.  Ici, une librairie de livres usagés très coquette. At the Fremantle Markets we bought a lot of nice souvenirs. Here, a very lovely second-hand book store.	On ne pouvait venir à Fremantle sans visiter son immense marina. Ca nous a pris l'après-midi au complet pour marcher tous les pontons.  Vous n'en voyez ici qu'une toute petite partie. We couldn't come to Fremantle without visiting its huge marina. It took us the whole afternoon to walk all the pontoons. What you see here is a very small part of it.
Quelle ne fut pas notre surprise de voir trois des bateaux du Vendée Globe qui ont dû abandonner la course au large de l'Australie. Le Vendée Globe est une course à la voile autour du monde, en solitaire, sans escale et sans assistance.  Elle a lieu tous les 4 ans. Ici Gitana Eighty, le bateau de Loïck Peyron, qui a démâté le 10 décembre. What a surprise for us to see three of the Vendée Globe boats that had to give up the race off the Australian coast. The Vendée Globe is a sailing race around the world, for singlehanders, without any stopover and without assistance. Here we see Gitana Eighty, Loïck Peyron's boat, which have dismasted on December 10.
Temenos de Dominique Wavre.   Il a toujours son mât mais a eu une avarie de quille au large des îles Kerguelen, à 2800 milles de l'Australie. Il a réussi à stabiliser sa quille et il a profité d'une bonne fenêtre météo pour rallier Fremantle.   Dominique Wavre's boat, Temenos.    He broke his keel off of the Kerguelen Islands, 2800 miles from Australia. He succeeded in stabilizing the keel and took advantage of a good weather window to sail to Fremantle.
Ecover, du britannique Mike Golding. Il a démâté à 1000 milles au large de l'Australie. Il a dû couper son gréement et a perdu presque toutes ses voiles. Il a confectionné un gréement de fortune pour faire route jusqu'à Fremantle. British sailor Mike Golding's Ecover. He dismasted about 1000 miles off the Australian coast. He had to cut his rigging and lost most of his sails. He built a makeshift rigging to be able to sail to Fremantle.
4 Janvier January 4
Une promenade le long de King's Park nous permet d'admirer la Swan River ainsi que la ville de Perth depuis les hauteurs. A stroll along King's Park allows us to admire the Swan River from the heights.	Ici le chapeau est de mise, car le trou dans la couche d'ozone est juste au dessus de l'Australie. Donc le soleil tape fort ! A hat is a must here, for the hole in the ozone layer is right on top of Australia.  So the sun is very strong.
C'est le chapiteau du Cirque du Soleil que l'on voit entre le centre-ville et la rivière. It's the big top of the Cirque du Soleil that we can see between downtown Perth and the Swan river.	Et à l'horizon nous apercevons le Royal Yacht Club de Perth, c'est le Yacht Club qui a arraché la coupe de l'America aux américains après 132 ans de victoires consécutives. Le voilier Australia II fut vainqueur de la course le 25 septembre 1983. On the horizon we can have a glimpse of the Royal Perth Yacht Club, the one that snatched the America's Cup from the Americans after 132 years of consecutive wins.  The sailboat Australia II won the race on September 25, 1983.
Parlant de voile, eh bien nous voici, (photo de gauche), en compagnie de Johann (photo de droite), en catamaran sport sur la Swan River en face du centre ville de Perth. Speaking of sailing, here we are (left pic), in company of Johann (right pic), sailing sport catamarans on the Swan River, right in front of Perth's City Center.
Nous terminons cette merveilleuse journée tous les quatre dans un sympathique resto indien où la bouffe était super ! The four of us finish this wonderful day in a nice Indian restaurant where the food was absolutely great !
