Septembre 2012: Début des rénovations de la maison September 2012: Starting the renovations of the house
Ce n'est qu'en septembre que le contracteur Yannick Girard est libre pour débuter l'agrandissement de la maison. Sa compagnie s'appelle Log Homes Saguenay.  Sa spécialité: les maisons en bois rond, mais il fait aussi de la construction conventionnelle. Nous avons été extrêmement satisfaits du travail accompli par ses employés. Ainsi que de ses compétences à construire une rallonge de maison non conventionnelle dont nous avons fait le design. It's only in September that the young contractor Yannick Girard is ready to start the add-on on the house. His company is called Log Homes Saguenay. He's specialized in log homes but also does conventional construction work. We have been extremely satisfied by the work he and his employees did, as well as his skills to build a non-conventional add-on on the house, according to our design.

Vu l'humidité qui entre dans le sous-sol, on a décidé de mettre une membrane sur le solage.  On a loué une petite pipine et c'est le beau-frère Bernard qui s'amuse avec.   Because we found some humidity entering the basement we decided to put a membrane on the house foundations.  We rented out a small Kubota backhoe and it's our brother-in-law Bernard who's happy as a clam playing with it.
Puis c'est la galerie d'en avant qui disparait. On va condamner la porte et faire une nouvelle entrée sur le côté de la maison. And it's the  front balcony that dissapear.  We're going to condemn that door and build a new entrance on the side of the house.	Le genre de job qui te massacre un terrain... The kind of job to destroy a landscape...
Le matériel arrive pour couler le solage de l'entrée. All the stuff needed to make the entrance foundation.	Et voici le ciment ! And here's the cement !
La membrane est posée tout autour du nouveau solage aussi. The membrane is also put around the new foundation.
Ca a tout pris pour que le camion monte notre côte à pic. The truck had a hard time getting up our steep driveway.	De la roche pour remplir autour du solage et du nouveau drain. Rocks to fill around the new foundation and the new drain.
Puis de la terre pour finir le remplissage.   À droite: Marc prend de l'expérience sur le Kubota. And sand to fill up the trench. On the right:  Marc taking some experience on the Kubota.
Ce qu'il ne savait pas à ce moment-là, c'est qu'il était pour s'en acheter un quelques semaines plus tard....  What he didn't know at that time is that he would buy himself a small one a couple of weeks later.
Pendant que Marc déverse la pierre concassée, Lise l'étend dans le fond de la tranchée. While Marc is pouring the gravel, Lise is spreading it at the bottom of the trench.
Une fenêtre s'en va, elle sera relocalisée. A window's gone. It will be relocated.	La nouvelle entrée commence à prendre forme. The new entrance is shaping up.
